Being one of the most awaited films of 2019, it is an Indian biographical political drama film. An appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the January 7 order of the Delhi High Court. The Division Bench of the High Court dismissed the writ petition demanding a ban on the trailer of the movie and the movie as well. The prayer before the Apex Court stays on the exhibition of the trailer of the film on YouTube and to suspend the release of the film during the pendency of the matter. Otherwise, the film shall cause irreparable damage to the name and fame of the office of the Prime Minister of India.
The allegation in the appeal is that the Central Board of Film Certification ought not to have given certification to the film since the actors have portrayed the character of public dignitaries such as Manmohan Singh, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi.
